Whoever reaches last is an A*** Hole

"Hey, listen"  Nanu Said

"Let's race to the other end, whoever reaches last is an A hole"

We stood somewhere on the Sion Matunga 6 lane road, looked to each other, Sree shrugged, I said"Okay", & Nanu gave his typical evil grin, Race ON!

It was the final day of the prelims. It was geometry & i had screwed it royally. Whoever made geometry, whoever bought this shit into the curriculum? Right angle, that angle, circles, tangents, hexagons, pentagons, squares, rectangles, theorems & axioms to prove each other and what not!.

Sree too had a bad day, he did not care one bit nor did I. Nanu, the wannabe ‘Scholar’ seemed to have had a better outing, and his face said so. He (Nanu) somehow missed the ‘scholar company’ to walk back home and so, tagged along with us, the ‘Averagers’. On the way we talked on everything, but the exam and a few minutes from School, we reach the Sion Matunga 6 lane road, when Nanu gets the idea of asserting his superiority and makes the wager.

The Sion Matunga 6 lane road is a fast highway, with 3 lanes carrying traffic one way and 3 lanes the other way.

3...2...1  Start

We look to the right, no vehicles, i speed away.
I can see Nanu on my right and Sree to my left, closely behind me. Nanu moves further right and i lose sight of him, Sree jumps right behind me towards left as we cross lanes 1 and 2. I can see a taxi speeding on lane 4 and i jump through lane 3 and stop by the pavement for the taxi to pass. Sree whose just behind, jumps on to lane 4

“beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep”.....“Screeehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.hhhhh” .....DHSSSSSSH...

I am suddenly deaf to all the sounds around me.
I can see Sree rolling forward like a drum on the lane 4, he had missed the speeding taxi, and had taken the hit. I run behind the drum like Sree. I can sense someone behind me, i don’t care who it is.

Sree is lying face down on the road. I can sense vehicles stop on the nearby lanes. I can feel my heartbeat, but i am still deaf. No signs of Nanu though. I touch his shoulders, not knowing what to expect. The guy behind me, the taxi driver -shocked and bewildered, turns Sree around.

“Where am I?” Sree says. The driver checks all through Sree. By this time, we have a small crowd around us. The Driver announces “He looks Okay”. I hear that. Sree is made to stand up by one or two in the crowd, the driver rebukes him, the crowd supports the Driver.
I hear the crowd chatter
“What the fuck are they doing”
“Children, these days..so stupid”
“He could have easily died”
“Seems like he was running along with the fat guy” blah blah blah.
I walk along with Sree, to the other side of the road, Nanu tags along. He has seen the accident, and like us, is shell shocked.

“Only a few bruises” Nanu Says.
“Thank God” I add

As we walk through the pavement, we can sense the attention we are getting from the public,
“Oh SHIT!!!!” exclaims Nanu, and he turns away. I don’t understand, why?. Sree freezes in his steps, i look ahead,
It’s Nanu’s father, the senior Nanu.

Oh Shitttt.. Did he see the accident?? He will tell it to our parents, especially Sree’s. It will be a disaster. I think. Similar thoughts should have been on Sree’s mind. We look at each other.
“Sree, what happened” senior Nanu asks enquiringly
Sree looks at me, I look at senior Nanu, confused what to say

Senior Nanu continues “ Looks like some accident has happened, did u guys see it”
Suddenly Nanu Jumps in “ No, we were discussing Geometry”
“Okay, go home and Study. No TV, okay” he snares at Nanu
“Okay” utters Nanu and we walk away from Nanu’s dad.
Phew, close one. I think. Nanu flashes a thumbs up sign, All is Okay.
“Did u see the accident” I turn back, it’s Senior Nanu enquiring with the roadside underwear salesman.
“No, some Arse hole, mother f****** kids apparently were running on the road and one of them got hit by the Taxi” shouts the underwear Sales Man
We scramble away and thank our lucky stars.

Years down the lane...

The title would suggest some kind of retro content with nostalgia stuff. Well it aint it. Times been running around like god knows what, and a lot has happened since I last blogged. The only times I tend to remember I have a blog is when

1) When Gmail alerts me of a new comment on my blog.
I remember the first time I got the alert mail, a few months after my last posting. Excitement of a new comment accelerated my click, only to be let down by the connectivity speeds. I had to refresh my page thrice and then accede to google's demands that I open the page in HTML mode. Whatever!. The alert mail finally was open and it said

'Rusty..what a webpage..check out my page too..Payday loans www.#$E@$WE.com'

Spammed :( .
And since then every alert has been of the similar kind, urging me to buy check some webpage or to contact Mrs. Mubamgo Chavez, who needs my super human help to get her inheritance and in turn for my magnanimity, I get to own 40% of her inheritance which apparently is an 8 figure sum.
Also, one of the comments advocated the use of the New viagara, which apparently gave you 'Horse Power'.

2) When some guy updates his facebook status with his new blog saying something like
" My Humble attempt at writing"

The funny thing about blogosphere is that it always attracts newbies and most guys begin with a huge post. While some go on to make a few posts before reaching my stage, some directly enter my stage of dormancy after the first blog itself. Only a few remain disciplined enough to write consistently. I have also seen a few blogs with Title alone, saying "Coming Soon", but the Soon gets to remain as 'Soon'.

                                                                            ****************
It's nice to be back to logging something here, but It's time I hit the couch again or risk carrying a sleep lag all day tomorrow

Also Arsenal drew with Manchester United, when they should have won the game. Anyways points earned against the lucky lucky lucky Manchester United(the Champions Elect). Well even with Years having rolled by, my craze for Arsenal FC remains the same!!

That's all for now. Sleep time.

Various Thoughts!

Thought 1:
Today i was with my grandma, accompanying her through her daily dose of mega-serials. These serials i say are pure junk. U can call it family pornography. The story lines contain enough sleaze, turns and twists like twisters themselves.

Thought 2:
I have a Trip to north coming up. I had booked my return tickets, which later on casual introspection i found were booked in the wrong route. Now i am thinking whether to re-book or take a train back. Train wud save me money.

Thought 3:
Seen the Chamakh Challo Song?? Kareena looks oh-so-beautiful and She is one actor with pretty good acting skills. And She now tops my list of the most beautiful bollywood actress.

Thought 4:
I am finding the dilbara song from Ra One pretty addictive. Decent lyrics, great sound and pretty good music. How do i transfer it to my mobile?

Thought 5:
Actually today's 'The Hindu' carries an article about two ladies who cycled all the way through the ancient silk route to India. I am totally amazed by their feat and it is something i would love to do someday. Their website carries more details http://www.cyclingsilk.com/. Gutsy ladies.

Thought 6:
I have bought a nikon D5100 yesterday. Though i have enough experience using a camera, this one comes to me as a bit difficult to handle. I am in the process of learning the controls now. I am impressed by the image quality and when all the controls and my guess worked, those photos have come out to be pretty good. Something which i could not achieve using my older cam. Obviously SLR is different from a point and shoot, still i am amazed.

Thought 7:
If u have read through till here, thank you. Actually it is long since i blogged or rather say thought that i have a blog. So i thought now that i have found a dormant blog of mine, i would blog on something. Nothing good came to mind and all i could do was to map a few of my thoughts.

Thought 8:
Food.

Mere Mumblings

Today i recieved a five year user badge in Orkut and i am amazed at the way time has zoomed past. I, after a long time plunged myself into facebook and after an hour of jumping from profiles, queuing up umpteen number of profiles in different tabs, i find most females from school and college have got married or are atleast in a relationship or are engaged. Few guys too have joined the marriage bandwagon and all this makes me feel OLD.
Most of the guys have grown fat, a few have gone the gym way, and among the females a few of them, who were ugly then, to whom i paid zero attention, look mind-blowing now :( and some of the then beauties have got themselves idiot looking guys for company :( :( :D. (What would life be without emoticons, they convey so much, without any effort).

And as i think, a glance to the nearby clock says its 3 am and I should be sleeping.

  • For those with ideas of taking a 3g connection, do study the latest offers of operators, feedback's and go for the operator with the right speed and cost balance. If you find one, do let me know. My BSNL is slow at times and i am too lazy to read and find a better one.
Gush Nyt!

Seniors-Movie Review

A hot hot Sunday afternoon and what better way to relax than to go for a movie. Whatever be the content of the movie, its the AC that's relaxing. I reached the theater after a bad bad exam and caught up with Junior and JJ at the theater. There were six of us, unfortunately we got only 4 tickets. The first four opportunists and that included me, got in. Out of the two left, Sam, uninterested from the beginning, happily left and other guy Mr.B, obviously felt bad at us getting in, and gave us a doze of his mind. I took a major part of that firing.

Seniors
, starring Jayaram, Bobban Kunchako, Biju Menon and Manoj K Jayan in the lead roles, has been running to packed houses for the past one week and today was no different.
Although Seniors, is yet another masala college flick, it has neat comic moments and very a decent plot. Given the kind of movies that are getting released, this one's better and deserved the crowd.

The movie is about Jayaram(Padamanabhan alias Pappu) who after serving a term in prison( for murder of a college mate)comes to meet his close friends from college, Kunchanko Bobban, Biju Menon and Manoj K Jayan. He convinces them to accompany him to college and they together enroll themselves. At college, they get thrown out of class, get into fights, make fun at the college arts festival, break into the ladies hostel, creating funny situations. In the meanwhile, Jayaram tries to find who the real killer is(Yep, he was not guilty then). The movie treads a semi-thriller line and ends in the happily ever after style.
I felt a few scenes in the movie were overdone, and the logic a bit difficult to digest. Apart from that, the movie is a fun watch. Biju Menon stands out with his performance. The rest are good too and there is Suraj providing that additional bit. Overall, a decent movie, very watchable.

Thats all. I is off!

:(

3.30 in the morning is not the best time to be feeling :(, but the way arsenal lost to barca, i cant help it.
Barcelona were the much better team today, but the fact that they were helped by a partial umpire referee cannot be ignored. What else can be construed of the van persie sending off. Van persie broke free off his marker, got flagged offside, the signal given, but he continued, had an attempt at goal and was booked for the second time for dissent. Van persie's body language clearly suggested he was unaware of the call, and this all happened so fast that i can guarantee that even a few barca players themselves were'nt aware of the call, neither was their keeper. What a fucking moronic blind referee. We had to fend ourselves against a raging barca for the next 40 minutes with 10men. No positives to be carried away from this game. Diaby was an absolute waste, so was fabregas, whose back heel at the wrong place at the fag end of the first half led to the first goal. Nasri worked hard, Jack Wilshere , Koscielny, Djourou, Clichy were the better performers. Alumunia played most of the game as our 1st choice goal keeper with a hard to spell, harder to pronounce name got himself injured in the most mysterious of circumstances.

Leaving football aside, with March, has arrived the heat. Sweltering, energy zapping heat. The thought that it will go on at least till the first week of june, makes for another :(. The best thing about this season would be the mangoes. Sweet Juicy Ripe Ones, the sour unripe ones in chutneys and pickles, to be eaten raw with salt, the mere thought is mouth watering.

Time to hit the crib, so much for today.
SHIT HAPPENS.
Fuck U Barca.

Zoooooom

I just clocked 2.6Mbps on my new BSNL 3G connection. Slow speeds of EVDO was beginning to get on to my nerves, when dilbert informed me of his new 3G acquisition and speeds he reached. I put some thought, checked my finances and some other permutations before i finally got it. Now i zooom through websites. wow!
As i write this 'We will rock u' is being sung in the closing ceremony of the Commonwealth games and i feel elated. We did rock them. After being taunt with comments, criticisms and adverse reports before the games, the games got organized perfectly well and garnered enough attention all over the world.
It was simply great to hear pro-India chants that clearly inspired our athletes to their best, which is evident in the tally of medals-our best in all time. I was amused by a report where England women's archery team complained losing the gold to India due to the excessive cheering by the Indian supporters. Well, English females welcome to India. We will cheer for anyone wearing Indian colors, be it cricket, boxing or archery. That's what is called the Home Advantage and our athletes deserve it, don't they?
